On 30th January 2021 the Confederation of Trade Unions Myanmar – CTUM announced that the “welcomes the upcoming new government, recognizes the outcome of the 2020 Multi-Party Democracy General Election and opposes any kind of action or attempt to impede Myanmar’s democratic transition.”
On 1st February 2021 On 1st February 2021, the military regime against the democratic people of Myanmar and seized state power illegally. We strongly object and condemn it.
In successive military regimes, workers and trade unions lost their right to freedom of association. The whole country many job opportunities losing and many forced labour. Also, our country began that the most using Child Labour and Child Soldiers. Many Farmlands were also confiscated by force. The whole people of Myanmar is still facing the consequences until now. These kinds of bad experiences, CTUM do not work/cooperate with the Military government on any kind of labour related issues.
We, CTUM announced that the withdraw from all Government-Employer-Worker Tripartite mechanisms under the regime that was illegal.
