Eight Workers win the lawsuit for being accused of breach of covenant by an oil company operating in Myanmar.
Eaindra Kyi Tin, the advocate who helped the workers the legal assistance and the head consultant of Legal department of the Confederation of Trade Unions of Myanmar (CTUM), reported to CTUM that the court ruled that the eight workers who were filed by the company for breach of covenant found no guilty.
The company claimed the said workers had violated the covenant between the company and them which made the company harmed, and demanded the compensation of 195,000,000 MMK (nearly 150,000 USD) from each worker.
However, the CTUM lawyer Eaindra Kyi Tin pleaded for the workers’ innocent in the court by arguing that there was no evidence to be sued, and the period of limitation for the case was also over. She also submitted other legal points of the case that show the workers’ innocent.
Today the court finally decided that there no evidence to back up the company’s claim and annulled the case.
